Description

This was the first "St.Norbert's House in Roxbury in 1846. In the book "The Wilten Mission in the USA in the 19th Century, it quotes Father Inama's enthusiasm for building this log cabin, which would also become a place of worship. You can see from the following text that he put a lot of thought into the land where he wanted to buld this cabin.
"The hill upon which the little church should be built rises up sharply from the river to a height of 110 feet. The equilateral triangle formed by the river is covered with grass and on the other side with oak forest. The land lying beyond it for some two hours forms a fertile plain with ponds from which two creeks flow. From this plan, hills arise regularly to a height of 100 to 200 feet that are completely covered with grass or with oaks and birch and from which one can enjoy a view comparable to that of the Swiss Rigi" (Inama).
