Description

This is an image of a map in Father Gartner's diary of his trip from Europe across the Atlantic Ocean to the coast (New York area) and then eventually to the Midwest where he met up with Father Inama to do their missionary work together. This image of the map is very interesting as it was put in Father Gartner's diary by the man himself and shows his up and down trek. A trip across the Atlantic clearly at this time would have taken much longer than it would now, by ship or by airplane. It would be interesting to see what Father Gartner and Father Inama's lives and missionary work would have been like had transportation been cheaper and had aircraft been invented/in use for them to use in order to spread the word of God at an even faster rate and to even more Europeans as well as Americans.
